Student Orientation and Retreat (SOAR)

Welcome to Aggieland!

You are now entering the most exciting four (or more) years of your entire life! And we want to help you make the most of that experience. Your time in Bryan/College Station will create memories to last a lifetime. Furthermore, sometimes the transition from living at home to living on your own is more difficult than you would think. As much as we would like to think we can give you all the help you will need, only One can do that: God. We are wanting to help you grow closer to Him as you go throughout your college career.

SOAR (Student Orientation and Retreat) is sponsored by the A&M Church of Christ and is designed to be a welcome retreat for all incoming students (freshmen and transfer students) to Texas A&M University and Blinn College. On this retreat, you will meet new people in the same stage of life as you, play some fun games, experience great student-led devotionals, and learn more about the opportunities you have in the Aggies for Christ.

On Tuesday night, August 19th, we'd like to invite you to the church for a SOAR Kick-Off Party. This gives you a chance to get to know some of your fellow AFCer's as well as other new students before SOAR starts. There will be free food and activities of all sorts.

SOAR is held at Messiah's Ranch, only 20 minutes from College Station. We plan to leave the A&M Church of Christ building on Wednesday morning, August 20th, and return to the building on Friday, August 22nd, around noon. Then, we invite you to return to the building again Friday night for our annual AFC Back-To-School Bash complete with food, fun, fellowship, games, and music. The Back-To-School Bash is for everyone, current and new students.

Saturday will be a chance for you to do any last minute moving in, checking on your schedule, buying groceries, and buying your books. Sunday morning we'll kick off the semester with a prayer walk around campus.

The cost for all of these activities is $50, and it includes your food, your housing, and the best T-shirt you could ask for. If you would like to attend, please fill out the registration form and send your money to the address below, or bring it when you come Wednesday morning:
